Let’s face it: during the past couple of decades the smartphone has become an important part of daily living and not only for calling other people.

Without it, many feel lost not to mention the practical aspect (being unable to send emails, make payments, view maps, and so on).

So, here’s what you can do if this happens.

WHAT TO DO IF YOU FORGET YOUR SMARTPHONE?

1. CHECK IF YOUR SMARTPHONE IS THERE

The first and best remedy for this problem is checking and preventing the problem altogether.

Before you leave the house, your job, or else, check your bag or pockets to see if the phone is there.

The same habit is very good for your wallet, documents, and else.

Perhaps this is annoying and obvious, but lots of people in fact do not do this when leaving the house. Better safe than sorry.

2. DON’T PANIC

Lots of people tend to panic when realizing they forgot their smartphone.

This is understandable as most of our vital information tends to be on the phone.

Avoid panic, a missing phone isn’t really worth it and panic isn’t good for your health.

Also, avoid panicking if you realize the phone is missing while driving, don’t go digging around your bag while driving as this means taking your eyes off the road.

3. RETURN AND GET THE PHONE

If you’re not far away from your house and you have some spare time return back and get the smartphone.

It’s well worth it especially if the phone is vital to some task you have to do.

Honestly, if you have some sort of important call you’re expecting, you have something to pay urgently, you’re awaiting an important mail or else, you’re own phone is pretty much irreplaceable.

In that case, returning back is the right thing to do. Lost time in returning is gained time later.

4. ASK SOMEONE TO USE THEIR PHONE

If you’re already far away and you can’t go back then try this tip which is perhaps the most useful tip of all.

It is to simply ask someone passing by to use their phone.

Kindly ask if you can just make that one phone call to home, your job or else that will help you get out of a tight spot.

Usually, most people should help you as long as you kindly ask them and explain the problem.

If for some reason you don’t want to ask someone, or you’re in a secluded place look for the nearest gas station, coffee shop, shopping mall, or else.

There you’re bound to find some way to contact someone or even find some sort of pay phone perhaps.

5. BUY A CHEAPER NEW PHONE

For the last tip on this list, buy yourself a cheap new phone. Even in the era of smartphones cheap old-school phones are widely available.

Together with it buy a sim card and you’re ready to go.

This is the most costly but perhaps effective and sometimes easiest solution for a forgotten smartphone.

CONCLUSION

Perhaps the best advice of all these is to make a quick judgment of how important the phone is to the trip or job you have to do and react according to that.

If it is crucial, you better go back and get it even if it means losing time. As mentioned, you’ll avoid bigger problems and inconveniences later.

But if you’re just on a shorter runabout then perhaps just ignore the missing phone and you should be able to manage without it for that short time.

Let’s not forget that once upon a time the whole world successfully functioned without a smartphone.
