WHY DO WOMEN HATE CLEANING CARS? 5 REASONS

Why do women hate cleaning cars? I have asked myself this question for years and it is somewhat of a mystery to me.

Is it possible that a woman who is (in most cases) the epitome of cleanliness and order in the household, at work, regarding appearance, and else is a total failure in the „keep your car clean“department?

The true answer is yes and the majority of men out there that will confirm that.

This is not a rule of course, there are many exceptions, but the majority of women drivers simply don’t like maintaining and cleaning the car.

On the contrary, it is somewhat of a punishment for them.

Let’s take a look at a couple of reasons why this is so.

We must remind you that we have lots of car repair, driving, and car-related videos on our YouTube channel.

WHY DO WOMEN HATE CLEANING CARS?

1. LACK OF INTEREST

The first reason why women hate cleaning cars is a lack of interest.

To keep the car clean and well maintained a key factor is interest and to look at the car as your small house.

But most women don’t see things like this and look at the car just as a means of transportation and nothing else.

Perhaps a good comparison would be: would you clean the subway, public bus or airplane after using it?

So, from this standpoint, why would you put in the extra effort and clean it?

You’ll do it only when it starts affecting your driving or safety (like a dirty windshield, cluttered interior, bad smell, or else).

2. LACK OF KNOWLEDGE

Lack of interest gives way to another reason: lack of knowledge on this topic.

To be honest, this isn’t the case only for women drivers.

Lots of drivers show zero interest in their cars, not only for cleanliness but more importantly for maintenance.

Seldom do drivers know that a filthy and poorly maintained car is a matter of safety (personal safety and that of other participants in traffic) but it is also a matter of health.

Driving around in a beat-up dumpster should not be an option.

3. MOST WOMEN SEE NO POINT

It is surprising that most women simply see no point in keeping the car clean.

Why would you do something that will be the same in a couple of hours?

The fact that it’s exactly the same thing within the household doesn’t affect this either. Here also the cleaning lasts a couple of hours at most.

I’ve seen examples where the woman driver is a role model of tidiness and order only to see the passenger cabin of her car look like a tornado came through it.

Thick layers of dust on the dashboard, papers and wipes all around, crumbs of all sorts, or else are just parts of the picture.

A phenomenon that never ceases to amaze me.

4. BOREDOM

For most women drivers, when you mention that she should clean the car (as most boyfriends, husbands, and fathers eventually do) it is like you mentioned that she has to dig an army trench.

Although cleaning the car takes about two hours (when the car is a total mess) for most women it is a punishment.

One more good comparison of the harshness of this task is when a wife has to visit the husband’s family and talk to his mother for a prolonged period of time.

The end result of this kind of cleaning is usually smudgy windows, highly visible streaks on the car body from poor washing, only the most visible parts of the carpets have been vacuumed, and so on.

5. LACK OF TIME

The final reason on this list is lack of time.

This reason is, I think, the most prevalent one but also the most disregarded.

Most women in everyday life are like acrobats. They have to balance you, the kids, job(s), the household, pets, parents, family, human relations…..and finally themselves.

That’s a list that even a superhero would sweat over.

Having this in mind, cleaning the car is at the end of the list, and justifiably so. There are a ton of more important things to do.

If this is the case in your household, always remember this fact when you begin to say something (obnoxious) on the whole matter. Bite your tongue and give it a second thought.

CONCLUSION

At the end of this article, I must say one thing: there is no other being on planet Earth that I admire more than a woman.

The number of reasons for this admiration is long.

Keeping a car in good order is not one of them, I must admit.

When I see a car that looks like it’s been through a rally race and like it’s been driven by a drunken Viking, I have nothing but contempt.

I am saying this from experience since my wife does the same thing, despite me rolling my eyes and constantly giving poisonous comments on the whole subject.

Seldom do I remember that the same woman raises two kids (successfully thank God), that she makes food fit for the gods, and that she cleans my socks and underwear without saying one thing.

Not ever.

Then there are a million other things that my male mind doesn’t even register.

My point here. Dear male drivers from all over the globe: if you can, give your wife a break and clean the car for them.

This goes double if you have a family, especially small kids.

You’ll probably get no recognition, and they will not say thanks but we as men know the meaning of all this and the importance of it.

More importantly, check from time to time the oil, coolant, and overall maintenance. This is in fact a matter of safety.

If you can’t or will not do this for some reason, then at least don’t act like a malicious mother-in-law (with all due respect) to the whole subject and give your better half a break.
