THE CAR AS A STATUS SYMBOL-IS IT ALL TRUE?

The car as a status symbol- is it true or is it just a myth?

As someone who loves cars and has a pretty good knowledge of them, I would say YES it is true!

Like it or not, the car has been one of the pinnacles of success and prestige from the first horseless carriage to today’s hyper-cars.

In many situations, what you drive is what you are.

This is just a matter of fact and this list should explain to some extent why this is so.

Besides this website, you can also visit our YouTube channel. There you can see various videos about car maintenance, car repair, driving tips, and much more.

THE CAR AS A STATUS SYMBOL-REASONS

1. THE CAR PRESENTS YOU IN A CERTAIN MANNER

The car is just a product, simply as that. It is a means of transportation and nothing else…..yeah right.

We all know it’s much more than that. What you park in the driveway, in front of the club, or else creates sort of an invisible aura around you.

From the moment you step out of the car, you are already presented in a certain way.

Let’s be honest. How many times have you seen a guy/girl get out of a supercar or luxurious car and thought „Who is this?“

Did, you really notice that person, the appearance, the behavior, and other important things?

Nope, the car is in the spotlight.  In second place is the person who drives the car.

2. THE CAR CREATES AN IMAGE

A very good car especially a luxurious one may help you create an image that you would otherwise be unable to obtain.

Again, let’s be honest. You have a very good suit, good sunglasses, and the other necessary „good-looking “equipment but you drive a family sedan or station wagon.

Watch the reaction and you’ll see what happens.

Simply, the car is a very good addition to your overall look and appearance.

How much a car can impact people illustrates a story from my youth.

Once, while I was still a young man and single, a guy parked a brand new 911 Carrerra in front of the cafe where me and my buddies were having some drinks.

The Porsche was amazing in every aspect, but the guy was not so amazing.

A stained t-shirt, shorts, and flip flops were what he was wearing, a beer belly, thick neck, and some pretty rude behavior were his presentation.

Do you think that mattered? Did people resent his presence? Nope, not at all.

In less than 15 minutes he was swarmed with people asking about the car and soon he was swarmed with girls also.

Not to mention the free drinks he got for no apparent reason besides the car and all this was accompanied by some old-fashioned a**-kissing.

Such is the power of a good-looking well-made car.

3. YOU HAVE A UNIQUE TICKET

It’s no secret that various car manufacturers have built their companies around the fact that the car is a status symbol.

Simply put, a certain car model from a certain manufacturer almost guarantees you entry to various levels of society that otherwise would not be possible.

Perhaps the best proof for this that I’ve seen personally numerous times is when a person dops in uninvited to a certain occasion, especially one of higher status.

Despite the lack of invitation, if you have a good and luxurious car, your acceptance will be much easier as well as later communicating with the rest of the attendees.

It works like magic almost every time, especially if there aren’t any or just a few luxurious cars present.

So, if you have to go to a certain event, especially one that can help you with your future life, having a good car will be a good bonus.

4. THE CAR CREATES ACQUAINTANCES

Besides that the car is a status symbol, it’s always been a very good means of making new acquaintances.

It doesn’t have to be a supercar or a luxurious car. It can be a muscle car, an old timer, or else.

As you’ll see people flock to these kinds of cars especially if they are rare.

Naturally, with this inevitably come questions that lead to conversations and perhaps friendships.

Also, a nice car may make it easier to land a date, impress a new partner, or offer some new experiences.

5. A GOOD CAR CREATES A BARRIERcar-creates-barrier

The final reason is loosely related to the car being a status symbol.

People often stay away from you.

This may sound strange or awkward and opposed to the previous writing but let me explain.

In fact, this aspect is very useful in many situations, especially for people of a higher status.

There is nothing better than a big luxurious, preferably dark-colored car to keep away nosey or even aggressive people.

This goes double in traffic. Here I can almost guarantee that you’ll avoid things like road rage and harassment from nervous people.

I’ve observed this phenomenon lots of times while driving. I don’t know about you but people simply get away from these kinds of cars.

It goes double with modern cars with the UFO kind of headlights that are very intimidating especially when they zoom in suddenly from behind.

The best place to see this is perhaps the highway. Pay attention to this sometimes while driving and you’ll see what I mean.

People get out of the way by themselves, it seems that even flashing the headlights isn’t necessary.

CONCLUSION

Some readers of this article may say that this list is a materialistic and shallow representation of the whole subject and they would be right to some extent.

The proper way to judge a person is by his/her traits and as a human being.

But again, you can’t avoid the fact that the car has a huge impact on both a person’s appearance and the collective human psychology.

People look at you differently with a good car. They react differently and oftentimes even make different decisions believe it or not.

Decisions that can make a lot of difference in your life. The influence of a good car on making business is a good example.

So, my dear reader, if you want to (in certain situations) make an impression, present yourself in a certain manner, and show status, besides jewelry, there is no better way to do this than with a car.

Try it sometime and you’ll see what I mean.
