This article will show you some of the most common symptoms of bad fuel injectors.
The fuel injectors are high-pressure nozzles that have the function of dispersing fuel within the engine cylinder.
iF they are damaged or clogged the injector will not spray but will dribble fuel into the cylinder.
This then causes engine problems which you can read about lower in the article.

SYMPTOMS OF BAD FUEL INJECTORS
1. ROUGH IDLING

The first tell-tale sign of bad fuel injectors is rough idling.
Rough idling may be more present while the engine is cold.
The engine may also sputter or in more severe cases, one cylinder may not work for a brief moment.
2. POOR ACCELERATION

The next symptom you’ll notice is poor acceleration.
When you start accelerating, the engine may hesitate a bit and then start gaining speed.
This symptom gets worse as the injectors get more faulty.
3. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARS

In the meantime, there’s a good chance that the check engine light will appear due to the disturbance in the air/fuel mixture balance.
If you were to connect an OBD tool you would get a P0200 or similar code. Also, you may get codes for engine misfires and for rich or lean conditions.

4. STALLING ENGINE

As the problem gets worse, the engine may begin to stall.
The stalling may happen occasionally at first, while later it can happen once you start the engine.
Even worse it can occur while driving.
5. ENGINE NOISES

With a bad fuel injector, you may hear weird noises from the engine bay.
You may hear a vague whizzing sound but a ticking sound also.
6. BLACK SMOKE FROM THE EXHAUST

You may also experience a brief black smoke from the exhaust, usually when you start the car.
This is due to the rich condition of the air-fuel mixture caused by the bad injector.
You may also sense a smell of fuel when you start the engine.
7. HEAVY CRANKING

When the fuel injector is nearing its end, you may have problems starting the car.
Almost every time there might be heavy cranking and the engine will need a couple of cranks for it to start.
This is the red line for making an inspection and solving the problem of bad fuel injectors.
CONCLUSION
The moment you notice a change in the engine performance and the check engine light appears, inspect the problem. This is the proper time to solve it.
If you postpone the repair, it can seriously damage the engine, mainly the piston and the piston rings. This then leads to major engine repairs.
Repairing the injectors can be a costly and time-consuming repair but it is better than engine damage.
Also, know that the fuel injectors have a lifespan and are meant to be replaced as a part of regular maintenance.
In the end, if you have fuel quality issues in your country, know that bad fuel is one of the main reasons for this problem.
